NUR-309 Family Health Nursing

This initial nursing course introduces Keuka's community-based curriculum with a client family as the primary unit of investigation. Using a family developmental life-cycle approach and a family systems framework, the evolution and growth of many types of families is traced over time. Through a systematic approach to family assessment, students analyze the cultural, ethnic, racial, religious, and socio-economic variables that influence family life in this rural community. Critical thinking is encouraged as nursing interventions are developed and implemented with consideration given to the utilization of community resources to enhance family functioning.
