An introduction to the methods of studying literature with particular attention to the application of English in the wider world. This course will examine questions such as what do we read or write and why? How does literature represent and respond to the human experience? What methodologies frame the study of literature? What are the implications of digital technology for the written word? Why do we give special attention to teaching and learning the English language and literature? What professional opportunities are created by the study of English?
