New Student Orientation

In order to promote a rapid and sound adjustment to its educational mission and values, Keuka College requires all newly-matriculated students to participate in New Student Orientation, known as Wolf Week.

Student Learning Outcomes


GOAL 1:   BUILD COMMUNITY

 

Objectives:  

As a result of participating in Wolf Week, students will

  • Develop an initial connection and sense of belonging to Keuka College

  • Know how to navigate around campus and find at least three campus resources

  • Meet and engage with new students from a variety of backgrounds different from one’s own

  • Sign up for and commit to at least one campus activity

  • Meet and engage with academic advisor and review schedule

  • Develop an initial understanding of the Penn Yan and Yates County Communities

  • Participate in one service learning opportunity in the local community


GOAL 2:  DISSEMINATE INFORMATION  

 

Objectives:  

As a result of participating in Wolf Week, students will

  • Understand information about laws and policies regarding educational records and other protected information

  • Demonstrate ability to access Keuka College student handbook and understand relevant administrative policies, procedures, and programs in order to make well-reasoned and well-informed choices

  • Demonstrate ability to access support and institutional services and administrative offices  (outcomes: complete FAFSA, Health Forms, Registrar forms, etc)

  • Send appropriate email to faculty advisor

  • Attend meeting on Teams

  • Access semester courses on Moodle and submit an assignment

  • Access schedule and develop understanding of program evaluation using KC Self Service and KC Portal

  • Search for campus employment opportunities using Handshake

  • Schedule meeting with Writing Center or Tutor


GOAL 3:   DEFINE CAMPUS CULTURE

 

Objectives:  

As a result of participating in Wolf Week, students will

  • Demonstrate an understanding of Keuka College history, traditions and culture, including the College’s mission, vision, and values   

  • Develop an understanding of the nature and purpose of higher education

  • Learn the expectations for membership in the Keuka College Community

  • Participate in Academic Convocation
