Student Handbook 2022-2023

Student ID Cards and Keys

New students are issued a student ID and room key when they check into their assigned residence halls. Continuing/returning students are issued a room or apartment key when they check into their assigned residence halls or apartments. It is the student’s responsibility to retain this ID and key and to use them for entrance to their assigned room.

Exterior building access is achieved by using a student's ID card. All residential buildings are locked 24/7 and are only accessible by the residents of that building or authorized staff from the Offices of Campus Safety and Residence Life.

If a student ID is broken, damaged, or lost, please come to the Office of Student Life in Dahlstrom Student Center for a replacement.

If a key is broken or damaged, a replacement key may be ordered by contacting the Office of Residence Life or by stopping by the Office of Student Life in Dahlstrom Student Center. A $75 charge will be billed to the student’s account.

If a key is lost, a lock change and the appropriate of new keys will be ordered by contacting the Office of Residence Life or by stopping by the Office of Student Life in Dahlstrom Student Center. A $250 charge will be billed to the student’s account.

Students who have not lost their key and who are locked out of their room may contact the Offices of Campus Safety or Residence Life for assistance. If you can find your floor or a building RA first, please do so.

Apartment and room keys should be treated as a house key. Please carry it always, and do not depend on the RA or other staff members to unlock your room.
