BUS-301 Introduction to Business Research

This course will serve as an introduction to the rationale and procedures of business research. While emphasizing business writing skills, topics will include: nature and purposes of research; access and library research tools for bricks and mortar and online resources and methods necessary for application in the business environment Students will develop critical skills needed as consumers and producers of research. By the end of the course, students will have the following knowledge and skills:

1. Knowledge of how to engage in independent research that is pertinent to his or her career. The independent research is to be carried out in the library and through companies, associations, unions, government agencies, brokers, and other sources of vital information.

2. Understanding of how to develop teamwork by assisting each other in obtaining information regarding their stated interests and goals.

3. Understanding research techniques and methods of obtaining pertinent information for current or future careers.
