SWK-628 Adv Generalist SWP Seminar I

This course is the first course in a series of two in which students develop Advanced Generalist Social Work Practitioner skills through seminar and field education in preapproved social service agencies. The students develop expertise in the area of practice of their field practicum while continuing to master ever advancing generalist practice skills with an emphasis on mezzo and macro practice. This course provides experiential learning along with discussion and assignments that support integration of theory as well as professional ethics and values. The aim of this sequence is to produce self-aware practitioners who are grounded in social work values and ethics, able to apply interventions from differing theoretical frameworks for clinical practice and evaluate their effectiveness as independent social work professionals. Although each field placement in unique, students will be assessed on their level of competence in social work practice behaviors. The student will need to complete a minimum of 260 hours of field education to complete this course.

Prerequisite: Complete SWK-587 or successful completion of a CSWE accredited BSW program. (Required, Previous).
