SPA-252 Culture & Civilization of Latin America

A survey of the arts, history, politics, socio-economic processes, and cultural expressions of diverse regions of Latin America from pre-Columbian times to the present. Materials for this class include textbooks, articles, select literacy readings, newspapers, documentaries, films and Internet research. This course also analyzes globalization in Latin America, and its impact in the 21st century.

Prerequisite take SPA-203 or SPA-208 or SPA-220 or 3 years of high school Spanish with instructor permission (may require placement exam); Native or heritage speakers of Spanish should obtain instructor's permission.
