Policy and Procedures for Exception to Academic Policy

Academic policies exist to define and communicate institutional standards and to ensure equitable treatment of all students. In certain cases, strict adherence to the policy as stated is not in the best interest of a student's education, but the exception requested does not violate the spirit of the policy. The policy and procedures for exception to academic policy exist to allow this flexibility.

Exceptions to Academic Policy

The Provost or designee is responsible for the implementation of academic policies, including determination of academic standing and exceptions. Exceptions may be made to Keuka College academic policies as published in the Keuka College Catalog if the requested variation does not violate the intent of the policy from which exception is requested. A student may petition to be excluded from a specific policy by submitting an Exception to Policy form to the Registrar’s Office. A student must acquire all of the necessary signatures in order for the exception to be considered by the Provost or designee.

Exceptions will not be permitted to a student's requirements for graduation.
