INS-301P Integrative Studies: The Brain, Neuro-Ethics & Society *

A writing-intensive capstone course for the General Education curriculum that provides students with guidance in their application of interdisciplinary knowledge to problem solving. Students are challenged to practice critical and creative thinking skills, and they are expected to demonstrate competence in oral, written, and other creative modes of expression. This course is open to all majors. This course explores developments in contemporary neuroscience and the profound ethical questions raised by this research. The course considers how our evolving understanding of the human brain demands that we reconsider very fundamental question regarding human nature-issues that are not just of scientific and philosophical concern but also have historically informed and guided our broader culture, our social value and societal practices.
