COM-200 Journalism Practicum

Journalism Practicum will introduce basic journalistic skills, such as newsworthiness and practical application in news-writing style.  The course focuses on making news judgments, gathering evidence and constructing narratives.  Students will be engaged in conversation with practitioners in the field, participate in mandatory seminars and workshops, and practice experiential learning in the classroom, transforming a "news budget" into the campus newspaper, the Keukonian.  Students in this course would also contribute to complementary media, such as the Keukonian website and its social media outlets.  After this course, students will have a broad understanding of the business of journalism, modern delivery platforms and print design and layout.
