ART-125 The Art of Improvisation *

An exploration of how the creative process contributes to successful communication in one's professional and social life. Students will be introduced to specific skills used by performing artists including focus, body language, articulation inflection and conveying intent and meaning. In addition, students will use these skills to further develop the ability to improvise in a variety of situations. Students will learn improvisational techniques by exploring the thought process that artists use every day and apply the creative process to real-life situations. The course will utilize role-playing, mock interviews, peer and self-evaluations, and video portfolios to help students identify and improve their improvisatory skill set. Course projects will be tailored to students' major area of study, allowing them to have an immediate real-world application for the skills learned.
