Interdisciplinary Studies

Students may design an interdisciplinary major reflecting their own educational objectives and career interests.

This program, the student-initiated major (S.I.M.), permits a student, in consultation with three faculty advisers, to include courses and Independent Study credits in two or more academic disciplines. Examples include human services administration, health administration, and children’s literature.  Students may earn either a BA or a BS degree.

Students may also design an interdisciplinary minor (S.I.M.R.) or a disciplinary concentration (S.I.C.) that reflects their educational objectives or career goals. Student-initiated programs (S.I.M and S.I.M.R) must be approved by the Curriculum Committee.
