EDU-371 Early Childhood Curriculum

This course is an investigation into how to teach content knowledge, concepts and skills in the early childhood classroom (inclusive and general education), with an emphasis on using the New York State Early Learning Guidelines and Common Core State Standards as the framework for instructional planning, implementation, and assessment. This course focuses on instructional planning for and teaching of young children in an intentional, developmentally appropriate way utilizing a balance of child-initiated and adult-guided learning that integrates content areas, using hands-on learning, manipulatives, and inquiry-based learning activities and centers. Creating a supportive and purposefully planned environment for learning is also included. There is an 8-hour field experience in this course.
