College Record 2023-2024

Field Period Policy

All traditional students must successfully attempt at least one Field Period® (defined as a 3.0 credit experience) by the completion of 30 Keuka College credits, at least two Field Periods® by the completion of 60 Keuka College credits, at least three Field Periods® by the completion of 90 Keuka College credits, and four Field Periods® by the completion of 120 Keuka College credits. According to college policy, the number of Field Periods® required for transfer students will be determined on a case-by-case basis by the Registrar, Director of Field Periods® and division. Online students are expected to complete their experiential learning component as determined by their program. Field Periods® are required by the curriculum. Failure to complete Field Periods® will result in the student not earning their degree from Keuka College.

Field Period® Warning: Received for any semester, other than the student’s first. Failure to meet ONLY the Field Period® criteria of SAP will lead to a Field Period® warning. Only one warning will be issued per term, and the letter will indicate that the student is not making sufficient academic progress in Field Period® completion. This sanction is separate from the Satisfactory Academic Progress sanctions.

Impacts: Students on Field Period® Warning will be required to meet with their academic advisors to create a plan for Field Period® completion to bring the student in line with Field Period® SAP. This is simply a notification to allow the student the opportunity to plan their remaining Field Period requirements with their Academic Advisor(s). As such, no punitive action is taken and there is no appeal process for Field Period Warnings.
