Theft and Damage Policy

Keuka College is not responsible for lost or stolen property. Students are encouraged to insure their own belongings and to report any thefts to Campus Safety or the Yates County Sheriff’s Office as soon as the loss is discovered. Students are responsible for locking their doors and not leaving their valuable belongings unattended to help minimize “crimes of opportunity.”

The College expects students who are responsible for damaging College property (either accidentally or with intent) to report that damage to the Office of Student Life. Students who voluntarily report accidental damage for which they are responsible will not have to go through the conduct process, but will be expected to pay for the costs of repair or replacement. Students who fail to report damage and who are later found to be responsible for that damage will be referred to Community Standards for restitution and resolution.
