The Financial Aid Process
The process begins with two applications:
- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or renewal FAFSA.
- New York State Tuition Assistance Application (generated from the FAFSA for NYS residents).
These applications are available online and should be filled out for each academic year.. These forms should be filed with the appropriate parties as soon as possible after (not before) Oct. 1. In order to be considered for the greatest amount of assistance, it is recommended that the student submits these applications by December 1 for the following year.
The FAFSA is processed by the Central Processor, who in turn emails the student a Student Aid Report (SAR) which explains eligibility for federal financial aid. The Central Processor also sends the financial aid office an electronic copy of this report. This information is used, along with the NYS Tuition Assistance Application, to determine how much financial assistance the student may be eligible to receive. Keuka College then sends a “financial aid package” stating the sources, types, and amounts of assistance available to help the student afford a Keuka College education. Keuka College reserves the right to refuse the processing of any prior year once the academic year has come to a close at the end of business on the last scheduled day of finals.
