EDU-211 Societal Perspectives/Special Education

This course focuses on the developmental, learning, behavioral, and social characteristics and needs of students across the spectrum of disabilities. Etiological factors of disability, effective intervention strategies, and an understanding of societal perceptions related to determinations of disability are emphasized. The course includes discussion on the importance of school, family, and community collaboration in educating and including individuals with disabilities. Fifteen hours of field experiences in local agencies serving individuals with disabilities round out the learning in this course.
