EDU-004 Substance Abuse Workshop

A three-hour workshop addressing substance abuse issues.  Course will cover alcohol, tobacco, and drug facts, figures about substance abuse problem and culture, including what drugs do to the mind and body, why people take drugs, and substance abuse prevention activities.  It will also cover the importance of personal health and safety, nutrition, and the impact of dangerous or abusive environments on students' readiness to learn.  This workshop meets requirements for New York State teacher certification.  It will be offered as a pass/fail option with a grade of S or U.
