ENG-092 Integraded Reading & Writing Skills

Placement based upon TOEFL or IELTS score. This course will provide an introduction to the requirements of academic disclosure and to develop critical thinking skills. This course is designed to enable non-native speakers in English to develop accuracy, clarity, and style as they approach academic writing tasks. Writing skills are reinforced through grammar and vocabulary practice and essay writing, revising, and editing. Appropriate evaluation and documentation of sources are also reviewed. This course is an integrated skills course that will require academic reading, writing, listening and speaking in English, with a focus on writing and grammar. Students practice conversation and speaking skills using practical, real-world English. They learn to write with accuracy and effectiveness, develop strategic listening skills, and improve their use of grammar. The class schedule for this course is the equivalent of one four-credit course.
