CMP-225 Introduction to Databases

An overview of database systems. The hierarchical network and relational data models will be studied. Topics covered will include the principles of good database design, file and system structure, file organization and access techniques, query and update languages, datasecurity and integrity. Databases with different applications will be studied including a general purpose database (currently Access), gradebook database (ex. SASI), accounting database (ex. Quickbook), reservation database (ex. DPMS), and travel agents database (ex. Sabre).
