Environmental Studies

With its focus on environmental literacy, the minor in environmental studies provides an interdisciplinary foundation for students in a variety of majors who wish to develop an understanding of environmental issues, or whose professional credentials might be augmented by familiarity with multidisciplinary perspectives on the environment. Because environmental issues are complex and multi-faceted, requiring acquaintance with a variety of disciplinary perspectives and bodies of knowledge, the program provides students with experience in integrating multiple disciplinary perspectives and applying them to specific environmental problems, situations, or issues in real-world settings. Employers in the private and public sector will increasingly need employees with a background and understanding of environmental issues. This minor program would be an excellent complement to existing Keuka College majors in organizational communication, management, marketing, the natural sciences, education, social work, or liberal arts majors such as English, sociology, or political science and history.
